Mortgage lender Nationwide launches members portal
Thursday 25th June 2009Nationwide Building Society has launched an exclusive web portal which is only accessible to its members.
According to the mortgage lender, it provides users with a one-stop-shop for information on events, the latest industry news and the society's charitable commitments.
Maxine Taylor, corporate affairs director at Nationwide, said: "There are many benefits of being a part of the world's largest building society and I am sure members will see these when they log onto the site."
The members' area is unlikely to mention the fact that the building society has increased the interest rates on many of its fixed rate mortgages twice in the past two weeks.
A spokesperson for the society said it was "tweaking" rates so that it could better control the volumes of mortgages on its books.
Meanwhile, with other lenders also pushing up their mortgage costs, Darren Cook of moneyfacts.co.uk warned that the average fixed-rate deal could soon have a rate of six per cent.
