Barratt matches FTB deposits on new builds
Wednesday 6th January 2010Barratt Mercia has set out plans to match pound for pound the deposits saved by first-time buyers up to five per cent of the purchase price of selected new homes in areas in the Midlands.
“You need a huge deposit if you’re buying for the first time,” is a familiar complaint from people who have been priced out of the property market for years. On a property worth GBP 150,000, we can contribute up to GBP 7,500 towards deposits,” said Julia Higgins, sales manager for Barratt Mercia.
“For many people in Coventry this could make the difference between having to continue renting and being able to move into their own home,” she added.
The property developer is also offering a five-year guarantee on fixtures and fittings in new homes at the time of purchase. The offer is available to buyers at the Zest development in Coventry and at the Bluebell development in Nuneaton. Barratt Group is expected to build 12,000 homes in the current financial year, making it the biggest housebuilder by volume in Britain.
