Legal & General appoints Operations Director for lifetime mortgages

Mike Thompson has been appointed to the role of Legal & General’s Operations Director for its lifetime mortgage business.

Before joining Legal & General Home Finance, Thompson was Head of UK Operations for mortgage servicing specialist Acenden, which is part of the Northview Group. During his stint at Northview, Thompson had responsibility for all of the customer-facing teams, including primary servicing, specialist servicing, contact centre operations, insurance and complaints.

He has over 26 years’ experience in the banking sector, with 23 of those spent within NatWest Bank and the RBS Group. The aim is for Thompson to make an immediate contribution to Legal & General’s strategic goal of making lifetime mortgages a mainstream solution for retired people with "stored up" property wealth. 

Thompson said of his new role: “I am delighted to be joining the Legal & General Home Finance team at such an exciting time for the retirement lending market. I look forward to working closely with the team in Solihull as L&G continues to strengthen its position in the lifetime mortgage market in 2017.”
