Mortgages for Business appoints new managing director

Steve Olejnik has been appointed managing director of Mortgages for Business.

Taking over from David Whittaker (who set up the independent brokerage in 1990), Olejnik brings over 20 years of leadership experience in business development within the mortgage and retail banking sectors.

Over the next five years, his knowledge and ability to build teams of high-performing advisers will be key to the firm’s vision for growth.

David Whittaker, former managing director, commented: “This is a well-earned step-up for Steve who has been my right-hand man for many years now. I trust him implicitly to lead the business through our plans for rapid growth. He has the drive and diplomacy to deliver.”

Olejnik also boasts expertise in sourcing finance for property investors, having won both Complex ‘Buy to Let Broker of the Year 2017’ at the British Specialist Lending Awards and ‘Buy to Let Broker of the Year 2012’ at the British Mortgage Awards.

In 2002, he joined the Mortgages for Business broker team after 14 years as a retail banker with NatWest and a short time as a financial adviser with The Woolwich.

He said: “I’m focused on the task ahead and I’m ready for a challenge. The buy-to-let mortgage market in particular has become more complex in recent years.”

“I’m keen to ensure that we remain at the forefront of helping landlords implement wise financing strategies to run successful portfolios.”

While Whittaker will no longer be running Mortgages for Business, he remains CEO of the Property Business Group Ltd, owner of the brokerage and buy-to-let lending brand, Keystone Property Finance.

“We moved Keystone into new offices and that’s where I shall be focusing my efforts,” he commented.

“We’ve got some exciting developments afoot which I hope to share in the coming weeks.”
