Research conducted by the estate agent comparison site, GetAgent, has uncovered which of the nation’s Halloween-themed street names garners the highest average house price.

As the haunted holiday draws closer, Halloween brings with it trick or treaters, vampires, blood, witches and sweet. But apart from just being Halloween tropes, they are also so the basis of many street names in the UK.

Which Halloween street names are the most and least valuable?

Get Agent carried out their analysis by basing their findings on price paid data from Land Registry over the past 12 months, GetAgent’s research shows the most valuable Halloween related street name is ‘Grave’, with an average sold price of £405,000, 53% above the national average of £264,244.

In second place, street names that had the word ‘Lantern’ commanded the second-highest average house price at £395,000 – 49% higher than the national average.

Road names with ‘Dead’ came in at third place and buyers can expect to pay 15% more than the national average, while homes on roads containing ‘Trick’, ‘Sweet’ and ‘Hell’ command a 14% premium.

Street names with ‘Witch’ (9%), ‘Spider’ (8%), and ‘Broom’ (3%) have also seen homes sell for more than the national average.

Sellers who are looking for cheaper Halloween related homes can consider roads with ‘October’ which has sold price that is 63% below the national average in the last year. Other Halloween street names which sell under the national average are Night (-1%), ‘Crow’ (-2%), Blood (-19%).

Founder and chief executive officer of GetAgent.co.uk, Colby Short, commented: “Although the celebration of Halloween as we know it has largely been adopted from our friends across the pond, it’s become a firm favourite for many and really marks the start of the winter festive season.”

“It also marks the start of the winter market rush whereby homebuyers and sellers across the nation set their eyes on completing before Christmas. So we can expect the manic market conditions of the last year to continue for the next few months at least.”

Table shows average sold price for each Halloween related road name over the last year and how it compares to the national average.
