The National Skills Academy for Financial Services has launched the Professional Manager Development Programme, a new qualification designed to provide senior managers in the financial services industry with leadership skills.

The programme can lead to an internationally recognised qualification and act as a platform for an MBA.

A recent survey by the Institute of Directors found that nearly three in five businesses were being held back by a lack of skills among existing employees and in the wider workforce, with more than a quarter of organisations finding it hard to fill vacancies because of a lack of applicants with appropriate leadership skills.

It has been developed using a variety of learning techniques, with face to face tutorials, e-learning resources, peer action learning sets and written assignments, so managers will be able to develop their soft skills alongside their technical knowledge.

The flexible and innovative nature of the programme enables learning in a time-efficient and productive manner.

Sylvia Perrins, chief executive of the National Skills Academy for Financial Services, said: “The NSAFS Professional Manager Development Programme is a vital component for businesses who are seeking to grow their talent and build professionalism among their staff.

“The financial services industry is facing unprecedented change, and consistent, high-quality training is invaluable in enabling people to equip managers to cope with the current changes and challenges.”
