A new chair of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme is being sought with an annual salary of £75,000 in return for around two days’ work a week. The salary, which equates to £721 per day,  is described as ‘competitive’.

The job advert, placed by the FSA, has appeared in The Times under the headline ‘Contributing to Financial Stability’.

The new chair will be an ‘exceptional person’, who will succeed David Hall, who steps down after six years as FSCS chair next March.

Candidates will have experience of operating at board level, ideally at chair level, and should either have spent a significant part of their career in financial services, or “be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the sector”.

The successful candidate will work at the FSCS offices in central London.
