Moving into the catchment area of a good school is top priority for over one in three families with a child aged ten or under – and they are prepared to pay for the privilege.

New research by Santander Mortgages shows they will pay over £12,000 extra.

The concern about moving into a good catchment area is highest in the West Midlands, where 26% of people looking to buy in the next five years rate it as a main priority, and lowest in Scotland where it is a priority for only 8%.
