The Right Mortgage: it’s all about marketing, marketing, marketing

The Right Mortgage & Protection Network held its largest bi-annual event on how members can use marketing effectively to grow their business.

The event took place on Thursday 6 June at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, attracting over 200 attendees and around 70 lender and provider partners.

Martin Wilson, chief executive officer of the Network, opened the event by demonstrating the many ways in which the network helps its members to diversify their business and the marketing tools they offer to assist with maximising their client bank.

“As a network we understand that our members are experts in selling in their specialist fields. What they might not be as good at is marketing their business. That’s why the network has been focusing on teaching our members simple ways they can market their businesses to gather new customers and retain current ones,” he said.

“We have done this by creating new training courses and launching our Your Business hub on our members’ website, which includes guides, tools, a marketing library and an all new social media library.”

The event featured a fraud specialist, Neil Ramsey from Mortgage Support Services, who spoke on all things fraud, financial crime and risk. Successful Paralympic swimmer, Giles Long MBE, was also in attendance. The keynote speaker used his career to illustrate the importance of every individual as a leader, how they can use positive change to their advantage and the link between being inspired and being motivated.

Attendees were also able to get involved with the Network’s interactive buildings and contents insurance forum, compliance clinic and the ‘ask the directors’ session covering members technology and compliance queries.

Those with a competitive streak entered competitions throughout the day in aid of raising money for The Stroke Association – a charity close to the heart of the network.

Andy Valvona, national account manager at Fleet Mortgages, commented: “I had the pleasure of presenting Fleet Mortgage’s approach to complex buy-to-let to many of The Right Mortgage Network’s members.”

“The response I had afterwards was excellent, with many advisers commenting how useful Fleet Mortgages might be for their buy-to-let clients. Fleet Mortgages looks forward to working closely with the Network’s advisers in the future.”

The network holds a number of other workshops and training events throughout the year, with its next National Training Event being held on Thursday 28 November in Solihull.
