Revealed – the most demanding areas for estate agents

Estate agent comparison site, GetAgent.co.uk, has revealed the busiest areas for estate agents and cities home to the most competitive markets.

The number of current property listings across 25 major UK cities and what this equates to in terms of listings per agent were investigated to reveal these findings. The research shows there are 14 homes listed for every estate agent.

There are around 423 estate agents listed with GetAgent across Liverpool. With nearly 8,700 listings in the current market, that is the equivalent of 21 listings per an agent. Those results make the city the busiest UK city for estate agents.

Bristol follows closely as there are 19 homes currently listed for sale for every estate agent in this neck of the woods. Sheffield and Portsmouth are both home to an average of 18 property listings per estate agent.

Swansea tops the table for the most competitive markets. On average there are four homes listed for sale for every individual estate agent in the city.

With an average of 8 homes for sale per agent Preston also ranks highly.

Chief operating officer of GetAgent.co.uk, Mal McCallion commented: “The pandemic property market boom has ensured that estate agents up and down the nation have been extremely busy.”

“However, like every aspect of the property market, market conditions are very much dictated by local influences and can differ drastically from one postcode to the next, let alone from city to city.”

“This is no different when it comes to the number of estate agents in a given area and the level of stock they have to fight it out over. As our research shows, those listing in Liverpool are currently enjoying a very buoyant market, whereas it’s a far more competitive landscape in Swansea.”
