Aim is to help underserved customers get better adviser support

The Mortgage Advice Bureau has added Afin Bank to its lender panel, meaning that Afin’s full range of residential and buy-to-let mortgages targeted to underserved borrowers will now be available to MAB advisers.

The company focuses on customers such as the self-employed and contract workers, people with more complex incomes, qualified professionals seeking higher loan-to-income borrowing, high-net-worth borrowers, and foreign nationals with a UK work visa.

John Smith, head of bridging, Afin Bank, said: “It can be tough for borrowers to get a mortgage if their situation is a bit different, perhaps because of their job or income. Good advice is important in these cases, which is why we’re delighted to be working with Mortgage Advice Bureau, who share Afin’s passion in helping more people get the mortgage they deserve.

Individual underwriting

“Afin assesses each borrower’s financial situation and individually underwrites every mortgage, so whether it’s a first-time buyer, a mover, or someone looking to remortgage to a new deal, we look forward to supporting MAB’s advisers as they help their clients get the right mortgage,” he said.

Rachel Geddes, strategic lender relationships director at Mortgage Advice Bureau, said: “Afin’s proposition gives our advisers greater flexibility to find the right solution for a wider range of borrower circumstances, helping more customers access the mortgage that’s right for them.”
