Furness Building Society is to try to build the amount of business carried out through brokers and intermediaries.

It has strengthened its regional development team to work with brokers.

New mortgage products developed by the Society achieved ‘Best Buy’ status on comparison websites over the summer and business conducted through intermediaries rose by around 75%.

Ian Bell, general manager of marketing and development, said: “There has been an excellent response to new fixed rate and discounted mortgage products which brought in mortgage customers from across the country, in particular through the mortgage brokers.  

“Strengthening our regional development team enables us to further build our relationships with mortgage brokers.”
