Society of Mortgage Professionals expanding roadshow in 2017

The Society of Mortgage Professionals (SMP) has announced that it is expanding its roadshow this year from 10 to 12 regional events.

This year's schedule of events starts in March and the organisation says it has added the extra dates due to the success of last year's roadshow.

The first six events, taking place in the spring, will cover a wide selection of mortgage topics, beginning with a market overview by Jeremy Duncombe of Legal and General Mortgage Club.

Liz Syms, from Connect for Intermediaries, will return by popular demand and equity release specialists, Key Retirement, will bring delegates up to speed with all the latest news from one of the mortgage industry’s fastest-growing sectors.

There will also be a specific focus on the importance of protection, together with a return of the popular regulatory briefings from the Financial Conduct Authority.

There will also be a panel debate featuring key lenders such as Kent Reliance, The Mortgage Works and Vida Homeloans.

“We have increased the number of our face-to-face events this year as a direct result of continually increasing demand and excellent feedback from last year’s autumn roadshows,” says Vishal Pandya, the Society of Mortgage Professionals’ operations manager.

“We can now cater for even more existing and new members.”

Pandya says the focus of the events is once again to deliver business-relevant CPD to members.

“We aim to equip advisers with the knowledge to take advantage of the opportunities that will present themselves during 2017 and beyond, as well as making them aware of some of the challenges they will face,” he adds.

Each of the Q1 events offers four hours and forty minutes’ worth of important CII and SMP-accredited CPD and will be held at the following locations:

7 March – North East (Ramside Hall)

8 March – North West (Lancashire County Cricket Club)

13 March – South East (AMEX, Brighton)

16 March – London (CII, Aldermanbury)

21 March – Northern Ireland (Hilton Templepatrick)

23 March – South West (DoubleTree, Bristol city centre)

The events are open to both SMP members and non-members. More details can be found by visiting www.thepfs.org/events.
